Water Reuse Technology
This course focuses on wastewater treatment and reclamation of municipal wastewater. In addition to the options surrounding technical installations, the legislative and socio-economic preconditions are discussed in the context of successfully implementing water recycling facilities. This includes the biological and physical-chemical treatment of domestic wastewater as well as drinking water, the legal situation for water production, wastewater treatment and reuse and integrated planning.
This course pays particular attention to biological wastewater treatment, membrane treatment, membrane bioreactors, adsorption, ion exchange and disinfection. Water quality parameters, the EU water framework directive, standards and guidelines (wastewater, drinking water, recycling), demonstration facilities, case studies, integrative planning, public perception and awareness programs also form the focus of this course.
