Ph.D. at Campus El Gouna

Plans for a structured doctoral program at TU Berlin Campus El Gouna are currently under development. Any updates will be published on this page.

Despite the momentary absence of a formal Ph.D. program, it is none the less  possible to pursue a doctoral degree at TU Berlin in conjunction with Campus El Gouna. This opportunity arises if the supervising professor is an official member of the Campus and the thesis topic is related to the local research areas (Water Engineering, Energy Engineering, or Urban Development) and displays a relevant connection to the MENA region.

The professors of Campus El Gouna are generally based in Berlin and travel to El Gouna for teaching and research activities only temporarily. Accordingly, doctoral students can be based in Egypt or Germany and conduct personal meetings with their supervisors in Berlin or El Gouna. Dissertations at Campus El Gouna have to be written in German or English. Any additional details have to be agreed on with the supervising professor.

Please note, that the pursuit of a doctoral degree outside of a structured program is mainly based on bilateral coordination between the Ph.D. student and the supervising professor. Under this arrangement doctoral candidates are expected to work independently and will not take part in any accompanying curriculum. Yet, they posses the opportunity to utilize TU Berlin's facilities at the main campus in Berlin, as well as in El Gouna, including laboratories, libraries, and technical equipment.
