25 April, Berlin - The students of TU Berlin Campus El Gouna visited the heart of the German Democracy. A small group of selected students from the Master's programs in Energy Engineering and Urban Development got deeper insights into the famous Reichstag building.

The historical building, which was burned down at the beginning of the Nazi-era in 1933, nowadays serves as the meeting place for the German parliament, the so-called Bundestag. The students got a very interesting tour about the history of the building, visited the multi-religious prayer room - with a special step indicating the diretion to Mekka - and got an introduction into the the parliamentary work. Among others, they learnt about the "sheeps' jump" (Hammelsprung), a special voting procedure, and were able to sit on the seat of Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel.

The tour ended on the roof terrace of the Reichstag building. There, the students had the chance to follow an audio tour inside the glass dome about the surrounding buildings and their history, while enjoying the gorgeous views over Berlin with the sun setting behind the skyline of Berlin. Special thanks to Dr. Roland Wirth for the guided tour.
