Martin Meyer, M.Sc. Urb

Martin Meyer has been a research associate with the TU Berlin since July 2017 and is the head coordinator for research and tuitiion at the Department of Urban Development.

His interest in urban development issues was kindled while working as volunteer for the Violence Prevention through Urban Upgrading Programme in South Africa (VPUU). Since, he has successfully concluded his studies in Urbanistik (Urban Research and Planning Studies) at Bauhaus-University Weimar focusing on urban theory (bachelor thesis on the conceptualisation of modernity in African urban research), urban governance and social resilience in cities. In his master thesis on Urban Commons in the German town of Halle/Saale, he analysed how civil society initiatives can form alliances with local government and administration to leverage funds for participatory urban development projects.

Having gained work experience, among other places, in the GIZ "Land Use and Settlement Programme" in Lesotho and at the Building, Road, Housing & Urban Development Research Centre (BHRC) in Iran, he is passionate about international urbanism and strives to improve the global exchange of scientific knowledge and practical experiences.

Before joining Campus ElGouna he has worked in housing market research and consulting in Berlin.
