Research Associate

Ira Lemm has been a research associate with the TU Berlin since April 2018.

Ira Lemm gained international working experience in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Namibia, Vietnam, Kenya Spain, and Germany. She graduated from Sheffield University, UK, with a Master of Arts in International Development and Planning. Her Master thesis focused on sustainable planning for rising sea levels in the municipality of Walvis Bay, Namibia.

She worked for the Risk Reduction and Rehabilitation Branch of UN-Habitat in Nairobi, Kenya on integrating sustainable urban planning and design into global programs for cities endangered or affected by climate change, natural disaster and human conflict. In Vietnam her work for the German Corperation of International Development (GIZ) in a project in Soc Trang was focused on sustainable environmental planning for the Mekong Delta, co-management of natural resources and collaboration with the Vietnamese department for agriculture and forestry. Additionally, she worked as a conference producer in London, UK, where she researched and set the agendas for technical conferences in the United States and Canada.

Ms Lemm strengths include working inter- and transdisciplinary, research methods (particularly for developing countries), collaboration with multicultural teams and her overall desire to create livable and safe urban environments and to help cities thrive.
