Which nationalities are welcome?

TU Berlin Campus El Gouna welcomes applications from all nationalities. However, carefully check if you are eligble for a visa to study in Egypt and Germany.


How can I apply for a Master's degree program?

The Master's programs at TU Berlin Campus El Gouna commence each year in October. See the application section for the procedure.


How much does the whole program cost?

Tuition and fees for the Master's degree programs amount to a total of €20,000, due in four installments of €4,000 for the first and fourth semester and €6,000 for the second and third semester, respectively.

This amount covers all costs associated with attending the curricular activities of the particular Master's degree program. It does not include costs for travel, visas, accommodation, obligatory health insurance, and living expenses.

How long does it take to get a Master's degree?

The Master's degree programs at TU Berlin Campus El Gouna take two years, consisting of four semesters. The first three semesters are devoted to academic course work, while the fourth semester is reserved for the compilation of the Master's thesis.


I have not finished my studies in 4 Semester and want to study further at TU Berlin Germany, what I have to do?

If I apply in January 2019, when and were does the semester starts for Master´s program?


The winter semester 2019/20 from 01.10.2019 – 31.03.2020 takes place in El Gouna, Egypt, the summer semester 2020, from 01.04.2020 – 30.09.2020 in Berlin, Germany, the winter semester 2020/ 21, from 01.10.2020 – 31.03.2021 takes place in El Gouna, Egypt again. During the fourth semester, the student is free to choose where to stay to write the master thesis.




What is the language of instruction?

All Master's degree programs at TU Berlin Campus El Gouna are entirely taught in English. Hence, a formal language test is compulsory to enrol in any of our Master's programs (for instance 87 points for TOEFL iBT, grade 6.0 for IELTS, or comparable others).

English native speakers are not required to supply proof of English language ability. Also, if English was the official language of instruction of your previous degree, you can be exempted from the language test. In this case, please provide us with a document from your university, stating that the curriculum was taught in English.

No prior knowledge of the German language is required.


What kind of degree will I receive?

After successful completion of a Master's program at TU Berlin Campus El Gouna, students will be awarded a Master's of Science degree by TU Berlin, according to the Act on Higher Education Institutions in the State of Berlin (Berliner Hochschulgesetz, BerlHG).


Will I go to Germany during my studies?

The students of Energy Engineering, Urban Development, and Water Engineering will spend their entire second semester in Berlin, undergoing their course load at TU Berlin's main campus. The study period in the German capital lasts approximately from April until July.

In addition, the students of all programs have the opportunity to conduct their required internship at an organisation in Germany subsequent to their exchange semester.


How are the courses structured?

Most of the academic content in El Gouna is provided in terms of block courses. The visiting professors of TU Berlin or external institutes, who are renowned experts in their respective fields, come to the Campus to deliver comprehensive and highly engaging teaching units for up to two consecutive weeks. The sessions consist of lectures, practical exercises, group work, and laboratory tutorials whenever applicable. The professors are assisted in their teaching efforts by research associates, who provide continuous support throughout the entire study period in Egypt. Examinations take place either directly after the respective course or at the end of the semester.

In Berlin, all courses take place in parallel throughout the entire study period. Examinations follow at the end of the semester.


Which recreational activities are available in El Gouna?

As El Gouna hosts Egyptian and international visitors of many different backgrounds, the town offers plenty of recreational activities, including kite-surfing, snorkeling, beach volleyball, diving, cycling, swimming, sailing, tennis, squash, golf, and horse riding. Students of TU Berlin Campus El Gouna enjoy free access to the sporting grounds and the swimming pool of nearby El Gouna International School.

A  branch of the Biblioteca Alexandria library is located next to the Campus. El Gouna hosts an art café and a cinema, screening the latest Hollywood productions once a week for free. The young town is also known for its nightlife, featuring several clubs, bars, and countless restaurants.


How to get to El Gouna?

El Gouna is very well connected to most major cities through the airport in nearby Hurghada, which is located 25 kilometers to the south. Egyptair provides several flights daily to Cairo from where connecting fares are available to all international destinations. Some European airlines also provide direct flights to Hurghada, for example from Berlin, London, Brussels, Istanbul, and Moscow.

El Gouna lies about 500 kilometers south-east of Cairo. A number of bus companies serve the route several times per day, taking five to six hours. From Hurgahda, buses are also available to the southern cities of Luxor, Aswan, Safaga, Quseir, and Marsa Alam.
