Project Electricity Market Simulation

It is important to understand that the electricity market is different from other markets, and the ways in which it is different, through learning the fundamentals of electricity economics. More advanced topics such as balancing power, electricity storage, and others should also be acquired by the students as renewable energy continues to expand. Learning the policy frameworks that shape decision-making in energy is vital, since the energy sector is heavily influenced by policy.   The “Project Electricity Market Simulation” module consists of six main topics: 1.                Fundamentals of electricity economics 2.                Renewable-based power systems 3.                Current topics in electricity economics 4.                Energy policy 5.                Power market modeling (using excel) 6.                Power market modeling (using GAMS) "General Algebraic Modeling System"
