WANACU

The West Asia North Africa Cooperation Unit (in short: WANACU) was established at TU Berlin’s School of Planning, Building and Environment in 2006. Aim of the unit is to establish and further strengthen the spatial focus of the School in the target region of West Asia and North Africa (WANA region). WANACU initiates, supports and coordinates collaboration activities of different kinds – research projects, university partnerships, student and doctoral exchange, summer schools, short courses, workshops, conference etc.  WANACU supports the “Central Institute El Gouna Campus” in several ways, for example in terms of public relations and providing access to relevant partners in the region.

WEB-TT

Educational project on resource efficient housing in Egypt started on 8th April 2011

The coordination workshop of the project „Water-Energy-Building - Training and Transfer" (WEB-TT) was held on 8th April 2011. Aim of the project which is coordinated by TU Berlin is to strengthen vocational education in construction industry in Egypt. Implementation of the project is planned near Cairo. "We want to achieve two goals" says Professor Dr. Johannes Meyser, "first of all, the Egyptian people shall have access to environmental-friendly, resource-efficient technologies through vocational education. Furthermore, we want to lay the foundation to use these technologies all over the country permanently". Johannes Meyser from the Institute for Vocational Education and Work Studies of TU Berlin, Chair for Technical Didactics of Building Techniques and Landscape Design is scientifically responsible for the project. Altogether, 8 partner institutions will develop and test modules for vocational education in Egypt during the 3-year project.

Qantara

The Arabic word "qantara" means "bridge". The Internet portal Qantara.de represents the concerted effort of the Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung (Federal Center for Political Education), Deutsche Welle, the Goethe Institut and the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations) to promote dialogue with the Islamic world. The project is funded by the German Foreign Office.
